Dame Ginger is a youngster who lives in a boring provincial town, Orange Springs; due to her behavior and yearnings for a thrilling life, her father decides to send her to a boarding school, the kind of place where the upper class girls of the 20’s learn to do important things like skiing or flirting, the last habit always with the supervision of a chaperon.
In such an idle but strict place, and thanks to some adventures ( she falls in love with a mysterious adult man and will be involved in a robbery ) Ginger will have finally the chance to make her most inward dream come true, to be a genuine flapper.
Herr Alan Crosland 's direction of this film is remarkable ( even though Crossland later will betray the rules of the silent cinema, by directing the first talkie in film history ) because in this early 20’s film the technique, continuity and rhythm are developed in an especially suitable way for a romantic comedy. The star is Dame Olive Thomas, an actress who died early and who shows in this film her versatility by playing a character with different shades, an innocent girl transformed into a flapper.
In this excellent film restoration there are is also a collection of witty, funny and politically incorrect intertitles that were enjoyed by this stiff German aristocrat thanks to their irony and longhaired impudence.
And now, if you'll allow me, I must temporarily take my leave because this German Count has an appointment with a vamp, a more dangerous woman than a flapper.

Dame Ginger es una jovencita que vive en una aburrida y provinciana ciudad, Orange Springs; debido a su comportamiento y ansias por una vida más emocionante, su padre decide internarla en uno de esos colegios de señoritas tan característicos y utilizados por las clases pudientes de los años 20, en donde aprendían a realizar importantes tareas como esquiar o flirtear, eso sí, esta última práctica siempre con la supervisión cercana de una carabina.
En tan estricto y ocioso centro y gracias a algunas aventuras ( la protagonista se enamorará de un misterioso señor mayor y también se verá envuelta en un robo ) que vivirá Ginger, ésta tendrá finalmente la oportunidad de realizar su mayor sueño, ser una genuina y auténtica chica moderna de los años 20.
La dirección de Herr Alan Crosland es ciertamente notable ( aunque posteriormente Herr Crosland traicionaría las reglas del cinema silente al dirigir el primer filme sonoro de la historia… ) pues se aprecia en esta producción de principios de los años 20 una técnica, continuidad y ritmo narrativo que se desarrolla en el filme de una forma ciertamente notable e idónea para esta comedia romántica; el filme está protagonizado por la malograda actriz Dame Olive Thomas, mostrando su versatilidad al interpretar un personaje con diferentes matices, el de una inocente muchacha que se transforma en toda una joven desenfadada y moderna.
A destacar también la excelente restauración en la cual se pueden apreciar toda una colección de ingeniosos, divertidos y políticamente incorrectos intertítulos que fueron especialmente disfrutados por este estirado aristócrata germánico gracias a su ironía y melenudo descaro.
Y ahora si me lo permiten les tengo que dejar momentáneamente, pues este Conde germánico tiene una cita con una vampiresa, una mujer muchísimo más peligrosa que esas chicas modernas de los años 20.
